Lukaku Should NOT Apologize To Chelsea – Gary Neville

Former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville, has said there is no need for Chelsea striker, Romelu Lukaku, to apologize for his interview.

Neville feels Lukaku just has to keep playing and scoring for the Blues.

In his words, the relationship is no longer a love story, but a transactional one.

“What I’m looking for now from Lukaku isn’t sorry. All he can do is make this relationship transactional and say, ‘I said what I said, I stand behind what I said, in hindsight, I should have kept it to myself but I guarantee you I will give you my all for the next 3-4 years of my contract because there’s been a large investment into me’.

“He has to now somehow try to win his way back into [Thomas] Tuchel’s plans. The fans have to accept him. I think they will if he carries on playing and he does what he’s been doing.

“Win matches for the football club and the fans will come round. But it does become, rather than a love story, a transactional relationship,” Neville told Sky Sports.

Lukaku was dropped from the Chelsea squad for the Liverpool game on Sunday, having claimed he was “unhappy” at Stamford Bridge and criticized Thomas Tuchel’s tactics.

The 28-year-old is to hold a showdown meeting with Tuchel on Monday.
